The Pod at Wellington Caves

Laurie was so intrigued by this sculpture installation near the Wellington Caves that we've given it it's own page. You can read about its creation on the picture of the plaque below. The free-standing rock sculptures surrounding the central metal structure (built from the wreckage of a collapsed bridge) display mosaics, made by residents of Wellington, which depict the history and present of the town. We forget what some of those represent specifically, so we've made guesses in some cases. The mosaics are lovely, though, even if you're not exactly sure what they mean. Viewing the entire work against the red earth and the wide, blue sky was quite something.
